Yard drainage in Crofton.

Most of Crofton's ground is rated well drained, so a puddle that stays is worth a look. We build the river rock channel that gets it moving.

Yes. Crofton is one of our main areas, with Gambrills and Davidsonville beside it. Most of Crofton's ground is rated well drained, 2,734.8 of its 4,238 mapped acres, so tell us exactly where water sits and for how long, and we price a river rock run for that spot. • The ridge

Route 424 began as Ridge Road, following the ridge between the South River and the Patuxent River.

  • The Little Patuxent

It borders Crofton at its southwest corner, where Route 3 meets Route 450.

  • Beaver Creek

The county has restored it between Route 424 and Crofton Parkway.

Crofton yard questions

Do the Crofton covenants cover a rock channel in the yard?

Ask your committee first if you live in the tax district. Crofton's Covenant Review Committee asks to review sheds, fences, decks and large changes to a home before the work starts, and its paper does not mention drainage. Most Crofton tax district neighborhoods have covenants, and the first Crawford streets follow different covenants from the later Levitt and Sons homes.

Can drainage work lower my county stormwater fee?

Possibly, with the right practice. Anne Arundel County charges a yearly stormwater fee, and owners can cut it by up to 50 percent with approved stormwater practices on their land. The county decides what qualifies, so ask it before counting on a credit for a rock channel in Crofton.

Why does my Crofton yard puddle if the soil drains well?

One reason can be ground that is built over. Soil maps place 2,406 of Crofton's 4,238 mapped acres in map units that include urban land, soil mixed with built-over ground. A soil rating describes the soil, not the roof, the drive and the patio that now shed their water onto it.

Is any of Crofton in a FEMA flood zone?

In places. Effective FEMA flood maps for Crofton include zone A, zone AE with a floodway, and the 0.2 percent annual chance zone. Look up your own Crofton address on FEMA's map before you plan drainage work; river rock in a yard does not move a flood line.
