Who installs Christmas lights on the Annapolis Neck?

We do, in Hillsmere, Bay Ridge, Highland Beach and the rest of the Neck below the Annapolis city line. A single-story home with lights on its front roofline starts at $650. The lights are leased, and that one price pays for the design, a timer, any fix in season, taking them down in January and storing them until next December.

Questions from the Neck

Is Highland Beach inside your area for Christmas lights?

Yes. Highland Beach is inside the area we cover, and a house there is priced the same way as anywhere on the Annapolis Neck. Highland Beach is the county's only incorporated town outside Annapolis. It began as a late 19th and early 20th century beach resort for Black people, and Frederick Douglass's summer house there, Twin Oaks, is on the county's inventory of historic resources.

Is holiday lighting on the Neck only for houses?

No. A business can have lights too, and its price is worked out for that one building, so send its address. The Neck's small business clusters are along Riverview Avenue and on Bay Ridge Road near Edgewood Road, much of the latter inside the city line. Bay Ridge itself has no shops or mixed use center; the Chesapeake Bay Foundation's offices sit on its waterfront.

What if a storm off the Bay knocks a strand down?

We come back and fix the Christmas lights we put up, and that repair is part of the one price, not an extra. For the wind itself, NOAA runs a weather station at Thomas Point, just off the tip of the Neck, with its wind gauge 18 meters up, and its page shows what blew through.

Where do you watch the Eastport Yacht Club Lights Parade?

From the Annapolis city front, the Spa Creek Bridge, downtown street ends at the water or the pocket parks in Eastport and Murray Hill, and it is free to watch. The parade of lit boats is set for December 12, 2026. The yacht club runs it, and we have no part in it.
