Questions

How old is Sylvan Shores?

According to the community's own history, the land was bought in 1929 for a summer home development. Streets were laid out, 100 trees and flowering shrubs planted and six experimental cottages built. It was platted in sections from 1930 to 1948, and some early cottages are believed to be Sears catalogue homes.

Where are most of Riva's trees?

The county plan says Riva's forests lie mainly along its western edge. Elsewhere the canopy comes from mature plantings and street trees in the neighborhoods, so a yard tree can fill a gutter far from the woods.

Are there townhouses in Riva?

Yes, in Waterford. The county plan says Waterford has the area's only townhouse developments, and lots range from under a tenth of an acre in Sylvan Shores to about a third of an acre in Annapolis Landing.
